CALL FOR PAPERS

The Program of After-Graduation in Social History of Politics Relationships of the Espírito Santo Federal University (UFES) and the Laboratory of Comparative Analysis of Power of the Université de Paris-Est (UPE) cordially invite all professors, students and qualified scholars in History and other related fields to participate in the Second International History Congress UFES/UPE – City, Daily Life and Power.
The main purpose of this Second Congress is to stimulate the reflection on the relationships among the urban phenomena, the rhythms of the daily life and the several kinds of wielding power in order to organize the urban space and its activities in the past.  Therefore, the Second Congress aims at promoting intellectual debate on several issues concerning the cities throughout History, as for example the construction (or reconstruction) of the urban territories; the historical and geographical boundaries amidst genders, social classes and different cultural groups; the ways of sociability in public rooms; the urban festivities; the ordinary urban troubles and so forth.  Based on such reflections, we believe that we can shed some light on the complexity of the urban life nowadays and offer some up-to-date scientific contributions regarding the issue.
The Congress, which will be held in the Campus Universitário da UFES, in Vitória, Brazil, will consist of invited lectures, coordinated sessions and courses on specific themes.
